Research

My work seeks to understand determinants of T cell differentiation through the study of human tissues from healthy individuals, during viral infection and following vaccination.

I completed my PhD training at the Kirby Institute in Sydney Australia studying how our bodies are able to mount CD8+ T cell responses in patients with acute or chronic hepatitis C virus infection. In addition, we studied the response of patients to CAR-T cell immunotherapy all at the single-cell level.

Now taking this experience, my work at Karolinska Institutet continues to apply the emerging field of single-cell sequencing towards understanding how T cell responses develop:

  1. In response to COVID-19 vaccination, and
  2. Against a broad range of viruses and other antigens in the tissues and lymphoid organs of healthy individuals.

Tiger got to hunt,
Bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder, "Why, why, why?"

Tiger got to sleep,
Bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.
